Next meeting of the Symbiphyt network - February 2-4, 2026.

OPTILEG is a France 2030 project involving several members of SymbiPhyt. OPTILEG proposes to optimize the interactions of legumes with beneficial soil microorganisms to promote low-input protein production (fertilizers and pesticides) for an environmental-health co-benefit.

A 3-day meeting of >70 members of the Symbiphyt network took place on 23-25 September, 2024 in Toulouse.

This axis of the Symbiphyt network aims to set up a space for animation and exchange around questions on the evolution of mutualistic symbiosis between the diversity of land plants and their microorganisms.

We aim at understanding how plants integrate complex developmental and metabolic processes to effectively transfer symbiotic traits to non-host crops for sustainable agriculture.

Terrestrial plants rely on ancient symbiotic signaling pathways to enable microbial entry and colonization within their roots. We study these interactions to uncover the molecular mechanisms behind symbiosis.

Some symbioses offer protection against pathogens through mechanisms like Mycorrhiza-Induced Resistance (MIR) or Induced Systemic Resistance (ISR). We aim at uncovering how these beneficial microbes regulate plant immunity, with the goal of reducing pesticide use in sustainable agriculture.
